Maths Progression Wall |
In Room 16 we have a Maths progression wall. It shows us each of the Maths progression stages and the knowledge and strategies needed at each level.
TERM 3- In focus
STATISTICS
This Term in Maths we have learned all about graphs and have practised drawing and interpreting graphs. The graphs we used in Room 16 were:
- Tally graphs
- Bar graphs
- Pictographs
- Stem and leaf graphs
- Dot plots and Pie graphs
FRACTIONS
WALT:identifying fractions (e.g 1/4 = one quarter etc)
find fractions of a set (e.g. 1/2 of 16 or 1/3 of 15)
order fractions, (e.g. 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5 ...)
find equal fractions, (e.g. 1/2= 2/4)
BASIC FACTS
We have also been brushing up on our Basic Facts and our Number Knowledge. We know what knowledge we need to achieve to help us move to our next strategy stage. Below is the key areas of knowledge at each stage that we need to know. (Know means instantly reacall).STAGE 4: Addition and Subraction
- teen numbers, e.g 10+3
- groupings within 20, e.g 12+ ___=20
- addition to 10
- subtraction from 10
- doubles to 20, e.g 6+6= Half of 18=
- multiples of 10 to 100, e.g 30+___= 100
STAGE 5: Addition and Subtraction
- groupings within 100, e.g 25+ ____ = 100
- addition to 20, e.g 9+8= and 7+ ___ =20
STAGE 5: Multiplication and Division
- Multiplication/Division 2x
- Multiplication/Division 5x
- Multiplication/Division 10x
STAGE 6: Addition and Subtraction
- subraction from 20, e.g 17-8=
- groupings within 1000, e.g 300+ ____ = 1000
- Multiplication/Division 3x
- Multiplication/Division 4x
- Multiplication/Division 6x
- Multiplication/Division 7x
- Multiplication/Division 8x
TERM 4- In focus: Geometry
After our pre assessment we analysed our tests and discovered what we as a class still needed to learn.
Our learning intentions for the unit will be as follows-
WALT:
- Identify, draw and make 2D and 3D shapes
- Identify the features of 3D shapes, (e.g. number of faces..)
- Draw cross sections of shapes
- Translate, Reflect, Rotate shapes
- Show the lines of symmetry in a shape/picture
- Follow and give simple directions
- Create and use simple maps
- Describe views and pathways on a map using coordinates.
